In October Viktoria will embark on a new project with Schoenberg’s masterpiece, Verklärte Nacht, at its heart. Designed by cellist Matthew Barley, the programme seeks to prepare the audience in an unusual way – with magical projections of the full moon by Yeast Culture, brilliantly designed lighting, and some new electronic music commissions from rising star Jasmine Morris which will be choreographed by Joshua Junker of the Royal Ballet, danced by the Ching-Ying Chien (Outstanding Female Performance Award 2017). Through this theatrical presentation the audience will be led into a different state of mind, deeply meditative, while different members of the Mullova Ensemble play solos, duos and quartets (with music by Bach, Bartok, Debussy, Janacek and some improvisations), in a seamless journey towards the moment where the sextet gather for the first time and Verklärte Nacht begins. It has been Viktoria’s dream for many, many years to dive into this transcendent music. Performances in the UK, Norway and Italy.
